How do I know whether AI can read my web page?
AI crawlers are the programs answer engines use to fetch and read your page, and the fastest way to know whether they can is to scan it. GEO IQ checks whether the AI crawlers are allowed to reach the page and whether your content is visible without JavaScript. Those two things, access and rendering, are what most often make a page invisible to an answer engine.
Can the AI crawlers reach your page?
Answer engines use named AI crawlers such as GPTBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), and PerplexityBot (Perplexity). If your robots.txt or a security tool such as a WAF blocks them, the engine never sees the page and cannot cite it. A scan reports which of these crawlers are allowed or blocked, and there are more than a dozen worth checking across the search, training, and user-triggered tiers.
What the AI crawlers see without JavaScript
Most AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so anything rendered client-side can be invisible to them even when it looks fine in your browser. GEO IQ's Deep Scan renders the page in a real browser and compares that to the raw HTML, so you can see exactly what a crawler would and would not get. If your headline, answer, or body text only appears after scripts run, the crawler reads an empty shell.
From readable to citable
Reaching and rendering the page is necessary but not sufficient. Once AI crawlers can read it, confirm the page states its answer in plain text, uses clear headings, and includes Schema.org structured data such as Article or FAQPage. Those turn a readable page into a citable one. If AI is not citing you, the cause is usually one of these, and a scan pinpoints which.
In practice
In one first-hand test, applying the prioritized fixes to a single page improved its AI Search Visibility Score by 37% in 54 minutes. Structure and Semantics went from 48 to a perfect 100, Technical Optimization from 66 to 95, and the page's content type, previously read as "Unknown," was correctly identified.
